One week from today, I'll be heading off to New York City for my orientation. I have a ton of Russian homework, a pretest, an amazing host family (3 siblings!) and a packing list a mile long.
I'm also apprenticing at Old World Wisconsin this week, so I'm using the hour-long commute to listen to a Russian lesson podcast.
My last day of school was yesterday, so I've thrown out all my papers and emptied all my binders, which is crazy. Everything about this is crazy. I go from high school to wearing a dress with a bustle in an 1880's general store, to Russia!
The main goal for this week (besides, you know, packing and pretesting and memorizing vocab) is to get gifts for my host family. Also, Russian keyboard stickers so I can type their names. My host sister Arina is 14, and she likes to knit, so I'm going to bring her some good old Wisconsin yarn. My other host sister Evelina is 7, and there will be a cheesehead for her. I still need my host brother's, and something for the parents.
I'm off to do more Mango practice!
